The UTRGV Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the Rio Grande City EDC, Rio Grande City Public Library, Starr County Industrial Foundation and RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, held a Legal Tips for Small Business workshop presented by Amber Van Shuyver from Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid at the Rio Grande City Public Library.Many local business owners had the opportunity to gain insight types of business entities; licensing/permits; zoning; insurance; intellectual property; taxes; employment issues; contracts; and leases.
The UTRGV Small Business Development Center provides seminars and workshops that are free and available to the public. They are geared towards small business owners who are interested or are in need of information regarding topics like finance, customer service and steps on how to open a business. The SBDC provides free, individual business counseling and low-cost advanced training to help find practical solutions for small businesses.
